Tenby Town Council are waiting for the thumbs up from Tenby Rotary Club to proceed with proposals about the possibility of selling the Augustus Place Community Centre building to Pembrokeshire County Council.
At Tuesday night's meeting of the council, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members that the Rotarians were meeting this week to discuss the idea.
At the council's last meeting, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter suggested that they should approach the county council to see if they wished to purchase the building to build two new in-keeping homes in that area, as bookings for the community centre were so low and had not improved even after lots of recent publicity.
Clr. Mike Evans stated that a strict local occupancy rule should be attached to any new properties that may be built should the facility be sold.
He also pointed out that the matter should be addressed to the Pembrokeshire Housing Association.
