The community of Tenby has been shocked and saddened by the tragic death this week of retired schoolteacher, Mr. Owen Morse.

Seventy-six-year-old Mr. Morse, who is believed to have been taken ill at the wheel of his car, died after it crashed on Monday morning.

A keen player of rugby in his younger days and stalwart supporter of Tenby United, Mr. Morse, of Park Place, Tenby, lost control of his car as he drove along Marsh Road shortly before 9 am. The vehicle collided with a parked car and a building skip in the lay-by at the entrance to Knowling Mead estate.

Mr. Morse's wife, Joan, who was a front seat passenger, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Sadly, Mr. Morse, was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor. HM Coroner has been informed.

Police are making inquiries into the collision, and are appealing for any witnesses to contact Tenby police station on 842303.

Mr. Morse's death comes just a day after a retired dairy farmer from Llanddewi Velfrey died whilst out for an afternoon's cycling.

Sixty-seven-year-old John Bland was out with members of the Pembrokeshire Freewheelers on a ride from Pembroke around the Castlemartin peninsula.

He is understood to have collapsed while pushing his cycle up the hill from Stackpole to St. Petrox, falling against a passing car in the process only a minute after riding past the home of his daughter, Debbie.

Mr. Bland and his wife Ann had farmed at Cwmllefrith Farm, Llanddewi Velfrey, for 22 years before retiring there three years ago. The couple also have two other daughters, Sarah Caswell and Christine Bevan.
