WHITLAND 32 pts.

GLAMORGAN WANDERERS 10

Whitland entertained Glamorgan Wanderers last Saturday at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn and ran out winners by 32 points to 10 - although the half-time score of 8-3 to the Borderers would not have suggested such a comfortable victory in the end.

The first half-hour of the match only saw six points scored, three to Whitland by outside-half Aled Davies, with winger Ali Lund replying for the Wanderers.

Right on the stroke of half-time, however, with Glamorgan Wanderers pressing, Whitland winger Jack Tremlett intercepted on his own 22 and ran the length of the field to touch down for an unconverted try.

Three minutes into the second half, the Borderers extended their lead with a try by outstanding centre Lee Glanville. Set up by Aled Davies, running across the other centre Matthew Hughes, Glanville exploded into the line to crash through for the try. Fly-half Davies added the extra two points with a successful conversion.

Eight minutes later, Whitland scored their third try through young centre Matthew Hughes. The backs took play to one side of the field, and when the ball was quickly recycled, second row Molitika made the extra man to send Hughes through for an unconverted try.

In the 24th minute, with the Wanderers attacking on halfway, Whitland's fullback Gavin Morris tackled his opposite number and ripped the ball from his grasp, before running 50 metres to score. Davies added the conversion.

Eleven minutes later, Whitland scored their fifth try of the afternoon, and again it came from deep. When centre Lee Glanville took a quick tap penalty on his own 22 metre line, he broke through the first line of defence and found Jack Tremlett in support. The ball was moved back inside to Molitika and then outside to Glanville who sent Tremlett over for his second touchdown.

Replacement outside-half Eifion Roberts failed with the conversion attempt.

The Wanderers gained some consolation right at the end when replacement Tom Lambert scored a try, with Lund adding the two points, to leave the full-time score 32-10.

The sponsors named Whitland number eight Randall Williams as man-of-the-match.

Whitland Wanderers

In a very tight game, local rivals Narberth Athletic ran out victors by seven points to six.

All the points came in the first half, with Narberth scoring a try by Gary Nicholas, converted by Richard Morris, and Whitland replying with penalties by Scott Penny and Wayne Morris.

Whitland did have a chance in the second half to win the game, but failed with the boot, with the last kick hitting the post.

Whitland Youth

Whitland Youth entertained Haverfordwest Youth in the semi-final of the Pembrokeshire Youth Cup last Friday, and after a polished all-round performance, with excellent hands throughout the squad, good driving forward play and wonderful back play, ran out easy winners by 38 points to seven.

Haverfordwest scored their only points of the match after 10 minutes when fullback Steve Martin crossed for a try, converted by outside-half Matthew Davies.

Whitland then scored three tries, all from outside-half Ross Harris, with centre Ali Bowen adding two conversions, to leave the half-time score 19 points to seven.

The second half saw Whitland again score three tries, through number eight Rhydian Thomas, centre Dafydd Gibbon and second row Tom Hopkins.

Again Bowen added two conversions to leave the full-time score 38 points to seven.
