Presenting the April Comedy Club at the Queen’s Hall, Narberth, on Thursday, April 14, will be daughter of ’80s TV comic Jimmy Cricket, the fantastic Katie Mulgrew! Headlining this event will be Steve Gribbin - a guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool - making this evening one to remember.

Delivering his act with “more energy than a friendly Tasmanian devil,” Gribbin’s scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.

As half of political musical comedy duo Skint Video - stalwarts of the Edinburgh Festival who stuck together for nine years - Steve appeared on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live and Cabaret at Jongleurs.

Within this time he also featured on radio programmes including The Mary Whitehouse Experience, and Skint Video’s very own show in 1992 titled Songlines on BBC Radio 1 - no doubt an impressive comedy career thus far.

Steve’s original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave - he’ll have you bopping along and humming these tunes almost immediately.

Firmly based in rock ‘n’ roll and refusing to pull no punches, his are comedy songs that will actually make you laugh; a rarity on today’s comedy circuit.

On the evening, Steve will be joined by Pierre Novellie and Katie Mulgrew to complete our line-up of laughs. Pierre has previously been seen on BBC Three’s Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live and 4OD’s comedy series Taxi Gags.

He has also featured as a panellist on BBC Radio 4’s The Rest is History - hosted by Frank Skinner - and has more recently starred in a music video for the band Walking Aida.

To top off his wealth of achievements, Pierre was also nominated for best newcomer in the 2014 Chortle Awards; became a finalist in the 2012 Chortle Student Comedy Award and won the 2013 Amused Moose Laugh-Off.

MC for the night Katie Mulgrew is comedy through and through; she delivers an engaging set with likeable presence and doesn’t struggle to hold the audience’s attention.

Mulgrew recently won the inaugural Liverpool Hope playwriting prize and her winning play is currently in development with the Liverpool Royal Court and Unity theatre.

Comedy Club tickets are available from the Span Arts website at span-arts.org.uk or from the Box Office on 01834 869323.
