After a period of inactivity over recent months, the Voices of Pembroke choir will be reforming to host a 'Come and Sing' on November 19 at Pennar Community Church (Bethany), Pembroke Dock.
The choir will be pleased to welcome anyone who would like to join them and sing excerpts from Handel's Messiah, particularly the popular Christmas chorus; these will be supported by soloists linking the various items.
The second work will be the well known Faure's Requiem, which is not too demanding for persons who are not regular choral singers.
Participants and evening audience members are asked to pay £5, as all the profits from this event will be donated to the Stackpole Walled Gardens of the Pembrokeshire Mencap organisation.
There will be a rehearsal on the Saturday afternoon, followed by the evening performance.
It is proposed that people bring a picnic tea to have in the break, and tea, coffee will be provided.
There will also be a couple of Friday evening preparatory rehearsals on November 4 and 11 in the church, to which all are welcome.
There will be copies of the music scores available to loan for a returnable deposit of £5, but it would assist the planning if people would make it known beforehand if they wish to use this facility.
Application forms can be obtained by phoning 01646 672534.
Plans are being progressed for a choir social event in the new year and a weekend visit away in the spring, possibly to the Oxford area.
