Locals of St. Florence have been so touched by the plight of brave Daniel Burrows that they want to help him get to Disney if they can.

Eleven-year-old Daniel, of Knowling Mead, Tenby, is battling his second bout of cancer after beating another form of the disease as a toddler.

Family and friends, spearheaded by Mum and Dad Cheryl and Danny, launched an appeal in July to help raise funds to take Daniel on a dream holiday to Give Kids a World in Florida when he finishes his current round of treatment.

In an effort to help boost the appeal, a group of people from St. Florence dressed up as Disney characters and collected money from pubs, residents and businesses in the village.

The costumes consisted of Cinderella, Ugly Sisters, Wicked Stepmother, Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming, Harry Pottery, Snow White, the Evil Queen, Cruella Deville and Pongo and Perdi from 1001 Dalmatians, the Little Mermaid, the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz and a terrific pantomime horse! They were hired from Griggles in Tenby.

Locals included Natalie Blake, Nicola Bennett, Carly Greenwood, Sharon Smith, Sheena Rees, Sian Conbeer, Jenny Jones, Gary Jones, Barry Wolverson, Scott Smith, Mathew Smith, Betty Smith, Vicky Jenn, Sophie Roberts, Laura Mountney and Naomi Taylor.

They organised a raffle which was drawn at the Parsonage Farm Inn that evening. Prizes were generously donated by Manor House, Texaco, Heatherton, The New Inn, Grandiflora Nurseries, The Parsonage Farm Inn, St. Florence Stores, The Sun Inn, Great Wedlock Dinosaur Park and St. Florence Cheese Farm. A donation was also made by the Greenhills Hotel.

Eight-year-old Roxanne Greenwood, of The Parsonage Farm Inn, wants to help Daniel get to Disney as well. She was unable to do the pub crawl as she was too young, so she decided to dress up as Tinkerbell for the day on Friday, August 9, and sold raffle tickets in and around Tenby.

In sponsor money, collections and raffle tickets, the magnificent sum of £1,600 was raised.
