If you want to develop your creativity or career, or give yourself a lift, then take a look at one of Pembrokeshire College's new part-time courses for inspiration. These are offered during the day and evening in Tenby, Narberth, Haverfordwest and Milford Haven. You can also learn new skills and gain qualifications at work with the help of a skilled assessor, or enrol onto a free learndirect course that will enable you to learn on-line or with a CD with tutorial support available should you need it. Classroom courses include computing, digital photography, life drawing, pottery, short-range radio for boat owners and DIY.
Work-based courses that enable you to gain skills and qualifications at work that will develop yourself and the business, range from level 1 to level 5 (degree level) and include health and safety and business and management.
Pembrokeshire College's PET Project is offering free introductory courses at community venues across the county that are aimed at anyone over 16 who isn't in full-time work, and especially over 50s, carers or people living in remote communities. Additional support is also available for childcare, travel and other things needed to complete the course.
This term there will be hypnotherapy for relaxation at the Bloomfield Centre in Narberth, sugar craft and first aid at Manorbier Parish Hall, introduction to ceramics on Tuesday afternoons at Robeston Wathen Village Hall and a range of introductory computer courses and a craft course making hand- stitched cards planned at St John's Community Hall in Pembroke Dock.
"The whole idea of the ESF funded PET Project is to encourage more people to learn, and break down the barriers that exist which discourage learning. For these reasons, we are encouraging groups of people to suggest what they want to learn and deliver it anywhere suitable and convenient to them, for example, a pub, village hall, in fact any community venue," said Pembrokeshire Education and Training (PET) Officer, Janet Davies.
"Ideally, the group should be over 10 people, but sometimes we can publicise a course if we have a core of interested people," added Mrs Davies. To find out more, callthe college on 0800 716 236 or go to http://www.pembrokeshire.ac.uk">www.pembrokeshire.ac.uk and click on adult learners.
