Former High Sheriff of Dyfed, Mrs Penny Drew MBE; DL. has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Trinity College Carmarthen in recognition of her singular contribution to the voluntary sector in Wales.

Mrs. Drew, who received her MBE in the June Honours List, has long been known for her dedication and work on behalf of many charities. On her installation as High Sheriff of Dyfed for 2004/2005, she became the first woman from Pembrokeshire to hold this prestigious office and also the first Australian born High Sheriff of the county.

In addition to being an active president of the Mid, West Wales and Powys section of the British Red Cross, of the Pembrokeshire branch of the NSPCC and of the Pembrokeshire branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, she has served on local District Councils and gives her support to a number of other voluntary organisations.

At the ceremony at Trinity College, Mrs. Annette Gravell, director of human resources, paid tribute to the many facets of her work in the voluntary sector and she was presented with her scroll by the principal, Dr. Medwin Hughes.
