Local businesses are being warned of a telephone scam which involves the caller demanding payment for non-existent advertising. Trading Standards officers in Pembrokeshire have been tipped off by a local business who was rung by someone purporting to be from 'the High Sheriff's office' chasing an 'unpaid debt' for advertising. As no advertising had been ordered, the business did not pay but instead contacted Trading Standards in Pembrokeshire County Council's Public Protection team. A Council spokesman advised that businesses receiving cold calls of a similar nature should not pay and seek legal advice.
