PLANED in partnership with Arwain Sir Benfro, Pembrokeshire’s LEADER programme, invited people interested to learn more about cohousing to a cohousing community called Springhill in Stroud recently.

The visit included information and a tour of the site by residents of the community who openly answered questions on a range of useful topics concerning the way of life in a cohousing community.

Attendees were taken on a guided tour of the grounds which included over 30 dwellings, and had the chance to look inside a one bedroom flat, three bedroom and five bedroom house. The residents then showed the group their allotment and chickens, the playpark for the younger members of the community and gave a tour of the community building.

All residents have the option to meet here for meals, activities such as choir, film night, yoga and much more!

Hafan Las, who went on the trip, are a local group looking at cohousing opportunities in Pembrokeshire, and would love to hear from people who are interested in learning more about cohousing and their current plans. If you would like to contact them, please visit their website www.cohousinghafanlas.org.uk

“The trip was a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge, experiences and ideas with members of the cohousing community, as well as meet other groups from around the UK who are looking to set up similar communities of their own,” said Annie Slater, community link officer.

The LEADER programme has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
