Dawn and Graham Howells, with the help and support of family and friends, recently held a coffee morning at the Begelly Arms Hotel for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The coffee morning was held on Saturday, September 30, and raised the fantastic amount of £3,578.97 for the charity, beating last year’s amazing amount of £2,619.22. The organisation has offered support to Dawn and her family since she was diagnosed with incurable cancer in March 2015, and as a result she wanted to give something back.

“The support from the local community was absolutely amazing once again,” said Dawn and Graham. “We would like to thank everyone who helped on the day, made cakes, donated and attended, making it a very special and successful occasion.

“Special thanks to our amazing family and friends, Natalie Webster, Gwenda and Bryan Mason, Veronica and Danny Howells, Jan and Richard Roberts, Mary and Roger Sheldon, Angie Jones, Karen and Andy Webster, Karen and Paul Morgan, Wendy Devonald, Kim Pettifer and Denise Williams for giving up their time to run the many stalls, which included cake, bric-a-brac, tombola, plants, buy a name, lucky dip and our fantastic raffle with prizes donated by local individuals and businesses, for which we are very grateful and thank everyone for their kindness and generosity.

“As well as all of the stalls, the many people who attended on the day were offered tea/coffee, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and biscuits for lunch making it a very enjoyable social event.

“Our final massive thank you goes to Peter and Jacqui Adams and their staff at the Begelly Arms for allowing us to use the Function Room to host our event, for supplying the tea and coffee and for making all the sandwiches and lots of cakes; their help and support was fantastic, and we are forever grateful.”

This was their fifth fundraiser since Dawn was diagnosed and brings the overall total raised for the charity to £8,600.

“Once again, thanks to everyone for your support, it has been overwhelming,” added Dawn and Graham. “Watch this space for our next fundraising event.”
