The 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail has topped a BBC Radio Wales poll to be voted Wales' premier visitor feature.

The 'Wonder of Wales' competition was featured in the Good Morning Wales programme, when listeners were asked to vote and nominate their favourite location to visit Wales.

The competition included a number of sites around Wales, and highlighted a visit to St. David's during the search for the country's most popular destination.

The BBC Radio Wales programme chose Bank Holiday Monday to announce the Pembrokeshire Coast Path - managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority with grant aid from the Countryside Council for Wales - as the winner of the poll during a live broadcast from St. David's.

National Park Authority chief executive, Nic Wheeler, welcomed the announcement: "This is a great boost for tourism in Pembrokeshire, and wonderful recognition from the people who matter - those who use the Coast Path.

"We all know what a treasure we have here in the county, and I am not surprised by the poll as Pembrokeshire is Wales' best kept secret."
