Cricket Coach Education Courses are to be held in the spring at Tenby Leisure Centre for coach beginners and also for those who already have a Level 1 (or the old "Coaching Award") qualification.

The details are as follows:

Level 1 - Candidates have to be 18 years of age. This course provides you with a basic knowledge of technique group coaching, games, and introduction to net management. The emphasis is on the development of basic skills and fun through group practice and game play. After this there is the option to become more involved in the Pembrokeshire Cricket Coaching Association's winter activities and County Teams preparation from Under 10 to Under 19, although earlier on in your development, it will be with the younger element that you will be involved. The cost is £75 and community chest funding may be available to greatly reduce this figure.

Level 2 - Candidates have to be 18 years of age and already attained the Level 1 (or "Coaching Award") Certificate. This course will equip you with more advanced technical knowledge, the basic analytical skills and variety of routines to run effective, safe and enjoyable net coaching sessions. An introduction to communicative skills, video analysis and sport science support material form the syllabus. A life saving certificate is also part of the course. The cost is £90 and, once again, community chest funding may be available.

The funding will be applied for centrally by the Pembrokeshire Association of Cricket Coaching once final numbers for the course are known, or the "ceiling" is reached on numbers for each course.

Those interested should apply, without delay, to the association secretary Ray Kane, 14 St Davids Road, Pembroke, SA71 5JH (tel: 01646 682106) with a deposit for £20 made payable to the association.
