The Co-operative has announced plans to create a new convenience store to serve the Tenby community.

Subject to planning approval and consent, it hopes to open a new format food store with a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials in the town.

Members of Tenby Town Council were informed at their last meeting of a licensing application put forward by the store for plans at the site of the former Post Office Sorting Office at The Green.

A spokesperson for The Co-operative confirmed the proposals this week.

“The Co-operative is working to transform and grow its convenience business and, subject to the necessary approvals, is delighted to have an opportunity to create a new format food store with which to serve the Tenby community,” a statement said.

“As a community retailer, and a co-operative, we are confident that the store will be an asset to the community, and also play a real part in local life,” added the spokesperson.
