A planning inspector has upheld a decision by Pembrokeshire County Council to refuse permission to grant outline planning permission for a replacement dwelling in Clunderwen.
The appeal by Nigel and Gareth Featherstone, of Gower Villa Caravan Site, was dismissed by Inspector RM Poppleton because the application conflicted with policy relating to the construction of permanent resident accommodation in the countryside.
Mr. Poppleton said it was clear that the existing residential accommodation on the site was a prefabricated Park Home and not a dwelling.
"Accordingly, the current proposal must relate to the replacement of the existing Park Home by a permanent dwelling and not to a replacement dwelling as stated in the application and appeal documentation."
On this basis, Mr. Poppleton concluded that the proposed development, which included accommodation, showers, laundry, office, store and reception area, conflicted with planning policies, including UDP policy designed to restrict the construction of new dwellings in the countryside.
