Manorbier and District Luncheon Club received an unexpected cash surprise at last week's meeting when Irene Brace, of the Castle Inn, Manorbier, presented the club with a cheque for £232.58. The money was from the fantastic efforts of the Castle Inn pub quiz and whist teams, but the biggest surprise was that £123 came from the proceeds of the Castle Inn Swear Box! The chairman of the luncheon club, Tony Wales, said on behalf of the club: "The members of the luncheon club were absolutely delighted to receive this unexpected donation from the Castle Inn; it really is appreciated. It will now allow our members the opportunity to enjoy a subsidised Christmas lunch. "I would, on behalf of the members of our club, like to thank the patrons of the Castle Inn, along with Terry and Irene and their staff for this very generous gift. Over the last couple of years, since our club was formed, they have been very supportive in helping to establish our luncheon club. "We would like to wish them a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year and we just hope they all carry on swearing in the New Year!" Manorbier and District Luncheon Club will be holding its Christmas Luncheon on December 4 at Skrinkle Community Centre. Anyone who is over the age of 60 who resides in the Manorbier community is welcome. Places are limited, so please 'phone 871698.
