AVID marathon participant and charity fund-raiser Clive Lewis, of New Hedges, is set to embark on his latest challenge to raise money for Diabetes UK. On Sunday, September 4, 67-year-old Clive will set off from Leicester Square to walk the first phase of his London marathon for diabetic research. Clive will follow the Jubilee Walkway along the north side of the Thames, before crossing the river over Tower Bridge and continuing down the south bank. He will cross again at Lambeth Bridge and eventually return to Leicester Square. The second phase of the marathon starts at Kingston-upon-Thames and ends at the Thames Barrier, following the river through Richmond, Kew, Putney, Battersea and Greenwich. This will be Clive's eighth mararthon to raise money for research into diabetes. He has previously raised many thousands of pounds and helped secure specialised hospital equipment. Diabetes UK welcomes your support for this event in the form of sponsorship and donations. If you can help, please contact Clive at Stonelea, New Hedges, or the Tenby and District Branch treasurer, Kathryn Harries, at 4 St. Michael's Road, Pembroke. Cheques should be made payable to Diabetes UK. Clive would also like to thank the many people who have supported his past walks and have given so generously to this very worthy cause.
