A Pembroke Dock lady is arranging a 'Clip for Cancer' event to raise awareness for melanoma skin cancer.
Christine Lucas, of Llanreath, will be shaving her head, along with six other female friends at the charity event which will be held on August 16 at the South Pembrokeshire Golf Club in Pembroke Dock, at 7.30 pm, in aid of Cancer Research UK - Melanoma Awareness.
"I was recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma, and after having surgery, I have been given the all-clear, but I'd like to raise awareness of melanoma and to help raise money for this worthy cause," explained Christine.
"So I've decided to take the plunge and shave my hair together with my crazy friends and family who have decided to take the plunge with me.
"My cousin is also going to have his legs, chest and back waxed too at the event, and my gorgeous daughter Megan, who is 14, has also taken it upon herself to have her long blonde hair shaved so she can donate it to 'The Princess Trust' so a wig maybe made for a child who has suffered hair loss," she continued.
A few small business from the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock area will partaking in the evening, and the ladies will be having a makeover before they have their hair shaved.
Cakes will be sold during the night, along with jewellery making, nail painting and massages.
"The response I have had to the event has been overwhelming so far. I know cancer has touched most of us in one way or another so I do hope people will support the cause," added Christine.
