A climber fell at St. Govan's Head on Saturday. Coastguard teams from St. Govan's, Castlemartin, Manorbier and Tenby, were called to the incident which occurred at approximately 5.25 pm. The climber, who belongs to a club in England, had fallen some 30-50-feet on the climb called 'Davy Crockett' in what is called a 'stretched landing'. This is where a climber is attached by ropes and has placed anchor points into cracks in the cliff face. One of the anchors came loose and he fell off the face until the next anchor took the strain of the rope and stopped him. The climber, a 43-year-old man from Guildford, Surrey, was shocked and had minor injuries, but managed to return to the top of the cliffs aided by the rest of the climbing team. He was taken to Withybush Hospital for precautionary x-rays.
