Tenby councillors want to hold talks with the local sports association about the possibility of turning land next to the Clicketts playing fields into a skate park.
In a long running saga, councillors have been on the hunt for an ideal location to situate a park for skateboarders for a number of years. Now they believe that ground next to the Clicketts overflow car park could be the solution.
After discussing the matter at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, members agreed to contact the owners of the site with the proposal and Pembrokeshire County Council's parking services manager, Geoff Sutton, to see if a site meeting could be held.
"This has been going on for such a long time, but I think this area is perfect and the site that has gained the most positive feedback," said Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas.
"It's next to the football ground and close to the leisure centre, it's a well lit area and away from any houses. It seems to tick all the boxes," she added.
Clr. Mike Thorne agreed and said that it was a good sign that the users themselves, the skaters, were enthusiastic about the location.
Members agreed that the skate park sub-committee should meet with the chairman of the sports association to discuss the proposal.
