Weather failed to dampen the spirits of classic vehicle enthusiasts at Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club's highly popular show at Scolton Manor, near Haverfordwest, on Sunday, June 3. As well as the regular entrants and their vehicles, there were many exhibitors and visitors from outside the county; some had even booked their holidays to coincide with this annual car show that is increasing in size year by year. As well as the many cars, motorbikes, commercial vehicles, tractors and static engines, the show attracted American cars decorated with American memorabilia, adding to the fun of the occasion. Visitors to the show were even taken 'Back to the Future' with a Delorean car which drew a lot of attention with its fancy Gull Wing doors. The club stalls that were set up in the marquee did very well, possibly because of visitors sheltering at times from the rain. The ladies on the Welsh cakes sold out quite early and had to send a very able 'runner' to go to the local supermarket for more ingredients for them to make more as the demand was so great! The organisers of Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club would like to thank everyone who took part or helped in any way, but some names should be mentioned: Scolton Manor; Tenby Observer; local radio stations who gave 'air time'; Helicharter Wales for aerial pictures of the field on show day; all the public who attended; all the exhibitors, trade stands and 'car booters' who braved the weather to attend; and the club members who give up so much of their time and worked so hard behind and in front of the scenes. The chosen charity this year is the Angle Tamar Class Lifeboat Appeal and a donation will be made at a later date. Next year will be a special year for the club. It is their 25th anniversary, so there will be a big effort to put on a show to be remembered. Any person who has an interest in classic cars and would like to join the club, which has regular outings and also visits other shows, please contact the club secretary, Mrs. Margaret Griffiths, tel. 01646 698233.
