The fifth annual Pembrokeshire Classic Car Run on Sunday attracted both a record entry of vehicles and a large appreciative crowd to the streets of Tenby.
The 230 entrants were welcomed to Tenby by Clr. Trevor Hallett on behalf of the Mayor, and president-elect Don Ramsay, the Rotary Club of Tenby, who had hosted and marshalled the finish.
Travelling in the vehicles, which had left Milford Marina earlier in the day before embarking on an 80-mile journey around Pembrokeshire, were the guests-of-honour Gordon Lord Parry of Neyland and BBC Wales presenter Jane Harvey, who later presented certificates and rosettes to all the participants, assisted by Clr. Hallett, Clr. Leslie Raymond, chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council and Tenby County Clr. Michael Folland.
During the afternoon, the ladies of Tenby Ladies Circle assisted the Pembrokeshire Kit Car Club with a street collection for Ty Hafan Children's Hospice. Ladies of Tenby Inner Wheel Club baked Welsh cakes, while all participants received complimentary tea and coffee courtesy of Ruth and Matt Goldwait, of the Pam Pam Restaurant.
One participants quipped that the run was all about the 'number of smiles per gallon' which summed up the enjoyment generated on the day, and many have already eagerly booked their entry for next year's event.
The organisers, Jeff and Sian Edwards, of Milford Haven, would like to thank everyone, too numerous to mention, who helped make the event such an enjoyable spectacle, and they are also looking forward to building on the success of the event in 2003.
