Sir,
I am writing in response to Mr. Pearce's letter in your issue of November 5 regarding the snooker team leaving the Tenby and County Club.
I will agree we did not pay our subs, because of the fact that the club was shut for four months with no access to be had by snooker members. Therefore, the snooker team was upset and disappointed that the committee refused to negotiate a discount on said memberships.
We, as players, kept the tables in good order with the expert help of our former steward, and clothed it three times at our own expense. Not a penny was contributed to the upkeep of the tables by the committee for six years.
Regrettably, we did not want to go, but they (the committee) would not negotiate.
I hope this clarifies the situation and I wish the County Club well in whatever it proposes to do.
G. Davies,
Ex-captain snooker team,
