Sir,
During the last two evenings over Easter, I have watched the unsavoury 'work' of car clampers in the Kilgetty station approach road.
I understand from the signs that it is a private road, with access only to the station, but I feel that car clampers in unmarked private cars, lying in wait for unsuspecting car owners, is completely underhand behaviour.
If the cars were being left for long periods or if they were causing an obstruction to Graham Evans Park homes entrance, I could understand, but this is not the case. Car clampers are waiting nearby or actually parking in the car park, and waiting for a driver to leave his vehicle, in most cases, mere minutes, before rushing out and with one eye on the driver walking down the otherwise empty car park, clamping the wheel. A fine of £95 is then issued on their return, causing a great deal of distress.
I was so incensed by this despicable behaviour, I involved myself, by taking a photograph of one of the car clampers in his vehicle and telling him what I thought of his devious methods.
In such a friendly village as Kilgetty, where tourists are normally made welcome, this is causing bad feeling for locals and visitors alike and is completely unwarranted.
