Members of Narberth's Civic Week committee were delighted to present cheques for over £1,000 to good causes in the area this month.
The proceeds from the successful summer spectacular were shared out among organisations from all walks of the community at a special presentation held on November 13 at the town's Fire Station, by kind permission of Sub Officer Paul Morris.
Civic Week chairman, Clr. Colin Williams, presented cheques for £500 each to the Narberth Fire Brigade First Response team, the junior section of Narberth AFC and £300 to Templeton YFC.
Those receiving the cheques were Firefighter Gavin James; Aaron Keane and Jordan Williams, on behalf of the Soccer Club; and Julia Howells, Clare Lewis and Emily Rigby, members of Templeton YFC.
"The committee have been very pleased to support these groups," commented Clr. Williams, who thanked everyone involved with Civic Week for their support and hard work.
Special mention was also made of the Fire Brigade for their assistance in erecting and dismantling the town's bunting.
Clr. Williams also thanked local photographer Malcolm Richards for attending the presentation ceremony and Mrs. Sheree Morris for preparing a splendid buffet.
The Civic Week committee are already beginning to plan for next year's event which will have a Victorian theme and will take place between Sunday, July 21 and Saturday, July 28, which will be Carnival Day.
The committee will be holding their annual general meeting on Monday, November 26, at 7 pm, in the Queen's Hall, and they are hoping that more members of the community will get involved with helping to organise the event and would welcome any suggestions to help make Civic Week 2002 a bumper success.
