The weekly Citizens Advice Bureau outreach services in Monkton Priory and the Mount Estate have reopened after the summer break, and a specially trained, voluntary advisor is available locally to give one-to-one advice on debt management and benefits.
The drop-in services are available on Tuesdays at Monkton Priory from 10 am to 1 pm and the Mount Resource Centre from 2-3.30 pm.
Says volunteer advisor Kellie: "Our service is free, impartial and confidential. We can help clients to negotiate affordable repayment terms with creditors if they find themselves getting into debt, and can also advise on what benefits they are entitled to.
"Different clients have different needs. Some are happy to receive relevant information and act on it themselves; others like us to help them fill in benefits forms, negotiate with creditors and generally take them through the process.
"It's always better for people to come and talk to us sooner rather than later if they find their financial circumstances are getting out of hand."
Please note that drop-in sessions can be busy, so clients may have to wait to see an advisor, and a telephone service is not available. If you can't wait, 'phone CAB Adviceline on 0844 477 2020.
