A crime at Tenby cinema this week has been described as 'another kick in the teeth' by its manager. Local police are investigating after thieves stole a quantity of cash from the the Royal Playhouse Cinema in White Lion Street sometime between 10 pm on Sunday night and 6.30 am the following morning. Two males dressed in black were spotted on the town's CCTV system around the area during the early hours of Monday morning. "These callous thieves have ripped out the strong box from behind the counter and have taken the money from inside it which included a large sum that had been raised for charity, and also the float change and petty cash, as well as stealing sweets and drinks," explained the cinema's manager Steve Williams. "They also just completely trashed the office and left it in a real mess. "There's no sign of forced entry and I'm worried that whoever has done this may possibly have even hid inside the building after viewing that night's film until everyone had gone before going on the rampage," he continued. "Suspect seemed to have forced their way out of the front door." Mr. Williams added: "It's another kick in the teeth for the cinema as we've recently spent nearly £4,000 on a new fire exit route as a result of the fire at the neighbouring Royal Gatehouse Hotel which occurred over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend." On a positive note, however, Mr. Williams has been given approval to re-open the balcony area from tonight (Friday). Anyone with any information regarding the theft is asked to contact the town's police station on 0845 330 2000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
