Retired Tenby hotelier Philip Harris is appealing to Observer readers this week to help solve a mystery he has uncovered.
While clearing out an outbuilding in the grounds of his home, The Leys, Narberth Road, Bethesda, Mr. Harris, who formerly ran the South Beach Hotel, recently came across a plaque which he believes originated from the now demolished Methodist Chapel in Warren Street, Tenby.
The plaque reads: 'The heating apparatus of this chapel and school was presented by Mrs. McCulloch in memory of her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Reed, who were for many years worshippers at the Wesleyan Chapel in this town. Xmas 1885.'
"I would like to find out who these people are," Mr. Harris told the Observer.
"I'm sure if my parents or grandparents had given something like this to the church, then I would be more than happy to have a plaque like this put up in my house," he commented.
"It would be interesting to find out if any reader can remember anything about the family or if any of their relations can be traced," he added.
