The annual Flower Festival held at St. Mary's Parish Church, Tenby, once again proved an outstanding success, with crowds flocking to the church to view the spectacular arrangements on display.
The festival, which is held in conjunction with Tenby in Bloom week, always attracts hundreds of people, both locals and visitors alike, who marvel at the talents and ingenuity of arrangements from countless groups within the community.
This year was no exception, with visitors to the event continually passing through the church doors from when the festival opened on Thursday morning, until it was brought to a close on Monday, to view the displays which followed the theme 'Psalms and Songs of the Church'.
The children's competition also attracted some colourful entries, while around 200 floral posies in memory of loved ones were attached to the pews in the aisles and choir stalls.
As part of the festival, a concert was held on Thursday evening with local artistes, while on Sunday evening, a Songs of Praise was held. There were also a number of musical items performed at various times during the festival.
This year, money raised from donations made at the door will be given to two worthwhile causes, namely Friends of the Community and the Air Ambulance Wales Appeal, and at the close of the festival on Monday it was revealed that approximately £1,250 each is to be given to the two beneficiaries.
Proceeds from Thursday evening's concert, meanwhile, which total around £280 will be donated to the Pembrokeshire Alzheimer's Society.
"The flower arrangements were really spectacular," commented the Rector, Canon David Jenkins.
"This year's festival must surely have been one of the best. An awful lot of work went into arranging the displays and they really did look marvellous.
"The interpretation of some of the psalms and songs was very imaginative and it was so good to see the whole community coming together for such an event."
