Sir,
May we through the columns of the Observer take this opportunity to thank all those who helped make the Festival of Christmas Trees held recently at St. Mary's Church House such a resounding success.
The local businesses who sponsored our trees: T. P. Hughes, the Fourcroft Hotel, Euquinox, the Reef, Hillings Ironmongers, Celtic Herbs, Seasons, Lowless and Lowless, Four Seasons Florist, Crossroads, The Pam Pam/Blueberry's, Nelson Sports, The High Seas Gallery, The Normandie, The Wimpy, Biormorphic, The Three Mariners and Mark Hawkey; the businesses who supported us with financial donations and gifts for our raffle: Tenby House Hotel, Pembrokeshire College, Charles Birt, Cosmetique, JOP Limited, Boxes of Delight, The Dainty, Carringtons, The Tenby Bookshop, Andrew Price, Manorbier Nurseries, Thornton's, W. H. Smiths, Boots, Jagos, Dales, Tesco (Pembroke Dock).
A huge vote of thanks to Mr. Phil Goodridge for making 18 trees stand up beautifully; Mr. Hugh Scale for supplying such wonderful trees; Mr. Peter Day for making the truly unique plaque awarded to the overall most original tree from Lowless and Lowless; the Mayor for taking on the arduous task of choosing the winner; the Rev. David Jenkins and Mrs. Jenkins, who together with Mrs. Joy Griffiths allowed us to use the lovely Church House; and Amanda and Cornelia, who brought their lovely Christmas decorations to add to the festive fare.
Grateful thanks go to our army of workers, in particular the stupendous Tony Morris, Peter Hart and Hugh Morgan, who together with Russ and Dave, made life a lot easier for out committee on Thursday morning, and to Austin, of JOP, who delivered trees all over town without a moan!
Finally, of course, a big thank you to the public, who came, saw and spent generously, so confirming our opinion that the true spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Tenby.
