Last week, six Soroptimists from the Tenby club met at the home of their president-elect, Dilys Jenkinson, to pack gift parcels for servicemen serving in Iraq and Afghanistan in conjunction with the SOS (Save Our Soldiers) organisation. Each gift box contains a mix of toiletries, biscuits, sweets and magazines, Christmas greetings and a message card; the weight of the box has to be under 2 kg and items declared. The group were delighted that for the period up to Christmas, the Post Office had waived the fee of £7 for each box, enabling more to be sent than previously, and no one was more delighted than Dilys, who has been doing this for a considerable time. At the end of the afternoon, 50 boxes were ready to go. The hundreds of items required were funded by the members of SI Tenby and District, the Inner Wheel Club of Tenby and Wise Buys, who gave a very generous donation to the project.

Pictured with some of the boxes, both ready to go and be completed, are: Jan Griffiths, Nesta Williams, Nesta Williams, Doreen Hammersley, Wendy Bell, Dilys Jenkinson and, in front, Marjorie Piper.
