Early December, the Carew and Cresswell Quay Cancer Research Committee organised their first ever Christmas lunch. This was held at the Lawrenny Arms, Lawrenny. Fifty supporters sat down to a fantastic three-course lunch, together with mince pies and coffee.
A raffle was held, winners being: wine - P. Harbud, S. Cole, J. Arthur, M. Williams; chocolates - B. Jaques; biscuits - P. Jenkins, H. Mathias, C. Chandler, M. Griffiths and Christmas puddings - B. Phillips.
The event raised £438. Many thanks to the staff of the hotel, and to the people who attended this function. A further lunch is being considered around Easter time - watch this space!
Last week, the committee organised a Christmas carol service at Burnetts Hill, a unique chapel near Martletwy. The chapel had been decorated by Roberta and Sue. The service was taken by Rob Scourfield and was well attended. Traditional carols were enjoyed, with readings by Liz and Pat (committee members).
The popular Stackpole Choir accepted an invitation to take part in the service and other items were given by several young boys and girls.
A collection was given to Cancer Research. The evening concluded with home made mince pies and punch. Many thanks to everyone who attended.
