The members of Stepaside Craft Village Association enjoyed a very successful Christmas Fayre at the Cambrian Hotel in Saundersfoot during the first weekend in December.

Not only were they pleased to see the many new faces that came, but they were also delighted to welcome many of their regular visitors to the village who came from as far afield as Corris and Cardiff. These people had the added surprise of being able to enjoy the Saint Nicholas Fair which was taking place on the harbour.

The picture (right) shows the chairman of the Craft Association, Mr. Mervyn McKend, presenting a cheque to Mrs. Mary Howells, secretary of the Saundersfoot branch of the Cancer Research Campaign, with a cheque for £624.05.

This total was raised by the raffle held at the event, along with donations placed in the wishing well located at Stepaside Craft Village. The association also made a donation of £100, also collected from the well, to a local children's cancer respite care charity.

Prizes for the raffle were kindly donated by Boots, Woolworths, and W. H. Smiths, all of Tenby, Sandyhill Nurseries, Wisebuys, Spar, Frosts and Mr. Patel, chemist, all of Saundersfoot, Tesco, of Pembroke Dock, and the Co-op of Kilgetty, as well as several of the craftspeople.

The craftspeople would like to express their grateful thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Fry and all their staff at the Cambrian Hotel, Saundersfoot, for their kindness and hospitality which helped to make the weekend the success it was.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all customers old and new a merry Christmas, a happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2002.
