The Carew and Cresswell Quay branch of Cancer Research UK held their annual Christmas Fayre and Coffee Morning recently at the YFC Hall.

The event was opened by Mrs. Mary Scourfield, vice-chairman, who welcomed everyone. In spite of the weather, which was horrendous, it was very well supported and again a tremendous success. Stalls were laden with Christmas goodies and soon sold out.

It was a privilege to have the company of Brigadier Jenkins and his wife. Brigadier Jenkins spoke about the wonderful work being done for Cancer Research. Also present was Mr. Phil Thompson, of Texaco, who is very generous to the committee.

Grateful thanks again are extended to the public for their continued support and generosity, to all who donated raffle prizes and to all helpers. A grand total of £1,400 was raised for Cancer Research.

Raffle prize winners: £100 - Gwyneth, Cresswell House; £50 - Elsa Lee; hamper - Alice Price; rug - June Cole; basket of fruit - Trevor Griffiths, Pendine; whisky - Vanessa Phillips; candle - R. E.
