Soldiers in Afghanistan will get some Christmas cheer this December thanks to the local Conservative association.
Nearly 100 boxes stuffed with sweets, toiletries and useful items are being sent to soldiers serving in the front line, paid for by donations from the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Conservative Association and Tenby and District Soroptimist's International Society.
Pictured with volunteer co-ordinator Dilys Jenkinson from Amroth is local parliamentary candidate Simon Hart who said: "It's great that we've been able to send so many boxes to Afghanistan and I'm sure that they will be gratefully received.
Mr. Hart, who served with the Territorial Army added: "It's a small token really but I hope it makes the troops aware of our gratitude."
Mrs. Jenkinson said: "There are very strict weight limits on the boxes so it's better for me to get cash donations to spend on the right items rather than to ask for donated goods.
"That way I can ensure that each box contains the maximum amount of both useful bits and bobs like hygiene wipes and luxury items like crossword books and sweets."
