A message from the Chairman of Begelly Kilgetty Community Association, Terry Ball
It is lighting-up time in Kilgetty again! Audrey and Peter Thomas, with their neighbours in St. Mary's Place, have excelled themselves this year - it really is a Christmas Wonderland! We have also bought five extra street-lights, courtesy of a donation from Kingsmoor Sports Club, which we matched to upgrade the Community Centre decorations. We hope everyone is pleased with the new lights. Our annual Mince Pies and Music afternoon for senior citizens is on Friday, December 15, from 2 pm at the centre. We are delighted to be joined by children from Pentlepoir School, who will entertain us with music and song. After tea, members of the WI will present their 'Christmas Story,' followed by a presentation of the cups to the winners of the Christmas windows competition. We are grateful to all the local traders who enter the competition and wish them luck on judging day, December 8. Finally, we send Christmas wishes to all residents and their families.
A message from the Chairman of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council, Trevor Andrews
As chairman of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council, I would like to express appreciation to the Community Association for the valiant work they have carried out in maintaining and improving many areas in the village throughout the year. The new Community Centre and Sports Ground has progressed with the digging of the service trench and pipes laid. Our thanks go to Chris Ebsworth, of Folly Farm, for carrying out this work for the community. Our admiration goes out again to St. Mary's Place and in particular Peter and Audrey Thomas and family for setting the scene for the festive season. On behalf of the councillors, I would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Santa set to return next week
Once again Kilgetty is proving a popular place to get in the festive mood. Even Father Christmas can't seem to stay away, as he will be making another visit to St. Mary's Place, on Saturday, December 16, where the lights and decorations of Peter and Audrey Thomas are proving as big an attraction as ever. Santa will be dropping in again to hand out sweets, courtesy of Bumper to Bumper. It will be the last Christmas that the house of the Thomas family will be decked out in its spectacular festive attire, and so far a magnificent £2,830.42 has been raised from donations, which is up about £600 from this time last year. As always, the Christmas house drums up plenty of media interest, and this year is no exception, as so far the Thomas family have been interviewed by The Sun newspaper, been featured in Women Weekly magazine and have made it into the last three of a Christmas lights competition run by ITV's Loose Women. The house is also due to be featured as a festive opening and closing to the credits of ITV's The Ferret.
