The Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir sang to visitors from Yorkshire, Lanchashire and Cheshire when they performed recently at Tenby's Giltar Hotel.

Introduced by hotel owner Miguel Gonzalez, the 35 choristers presented a programme of 10 pieces under their conductor, David Gwynn, and accompanied by Christine Lloyd and Alyson Griffiths, which varied in character from 'Alexander's Rag Time Band' and 'Portrait of my Love' to traditional Welsh items 'Ar Hyd y Nos' and 'Men of Harlech.' The hit of the evening was the rendering of 'Nessan Dorma', which received a standing ovation.

During the evening there were solos by Henry Johnson, tenor, who sang two favourites of the gathered visitors, 'The Rose of Tralee' and 'Loves Old Sweet Song', while Owen Jones, bass, sang 'On the road to Mandalay' and the Welsh air 'Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn' (Watching the Wheat).

Joan Lewis, soprano, and Eric Rawle, tenor, sang two duets, 'I remember it well' and 'All I ask of you' from Webber's 'Phantom of the Opera.' The flute recital and 'Annie's Song' by Alyson Griffiths gave an excellent contrast to the vocal pieces.

Phil Lloyd, the choir secretary and ever-ebullient compere for the evening, had the audience in raptures with his Pembrokeshire humour and stories.

Concerts such as these sponsored regularly at his hotel by Miguel Gonzalez, using local choirs and individuals, go a very long way to giving visitors to the south of the county an enjoyable and fulfilling holiday experience and certainly promote the area in an ample manner.
