At the recent annual general meeting of Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir, president Phil Thompson expressed warm congratulations for the choir's valuable service to the community, culturally and financially. He reiterated the pleasure and honour he felt at being the choir's president and anticipated a productive and gratifying performing year. Chairman Frank Harris acknowledged the choir's indebtedness to the president and also spoke of the charged and enthusiastic atmosphere within the choir under their new musical team. He paid sad tribute to the loss of two valuable members, Eric Rawles and Fred Roblin, and encouraged new candidates to join and experience the warm fellowship and pleasure in performance to be gained from being a member. The maiden report from conductor Christine Lloyd also emphasised fellowship and pride of performance. She was very proud of her musical team and as conductor she appreciated the honour and responsibility of the position very deeply, but was certain the spirit and ethos of the choir would continue to prosper with the continued support of her 'boys'. Officers and musical team for last year were elected en bloc to serve once more. On Sunday, January 22, a contingent of Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir travelled to Lampeter to join other choirs in practice for the Welsh Week at Paris Disney in March. Concerts have been arranged to support functions that are designed to show Wales to the French. The renowned conductor, Alwyn Humphreys, drove the assemblage through a rigorous programme of items. A further practice in Lampeter will take place on February 26 before the combined choirs travel for a five day visit to the venue March 1-5 inclusive.
