Cor Meibion De Cymru (The South Wales Male Choir) is no stranger to Pembrokeshire. The choir regularly visits St. Davids Cathedral. However, on July 28, Fishguard is the venue, for the men in the maroon jackets! 'Sights and Sounds of Wales' will feature one of the principality's largest male choirs. The choir is looking forward to bringing their own distinctive style of singing to Ysgol Bro Gwaun. The concert, kindly sponsored by Chevron Texaco, will highlight the Celtic flavour of the choir and solo performers. Violinist Simran Singh is from a very talented family. Simran was a finalist in the 2005 Texaco Young Musician of Wales competition. Surely an eventful career awaits this young lady. Her technique should leave the audience begging for more! Young Jodie Warlow is following her grandfather onto the stage. Grandad Ken Williams is a member of the baritone section, and will be watching proudly, as Jodie sings. Jodie hails from Pembrokeshire, and sang with the choir, recently, in Cheltenham Town Hall. The Hynes School of Dancing, based in Saundersfoot, need no introduction. Sam Davies and Caitlin Thompson recently brought home medals from the CRN Irish Open Championships, in Dublin. The feet of these youngsters move so quickly - you'll be breathless, just watching! This array of youngsters, complement the choir. In the last year, the choir has performed in the Royal Albert Hall, Cardiff's Millennium Centre, and Romsey Abbey, to packed audiences. In charge of the baton will be Elaine Robins. At the piano will be Sian Davies. The audience will be guided and informed, by compere Phil Howells, with his own brand of humour and anecdotes. The concert starts at 7.30 pm. Tickets, £8, are available from (01348) 875246. Don't delay, they are selling fast!
