St. Johns Church, Tenby, was the venue on Tuesday for a concert by the Pembroke and District Male Choir in aid of the Tenby and Pembrokeshire branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. The event, which was very well attended, raised the excellent sum of £590. Branch secretary, Eva Rich, accompanied by her guide dog, Angie, thanked the choir and their conductor, Christine Lloyd, for an excellent evening's entertainment, and for their continued support of the charity over many years. She also expressed sincere gratitude to Rev. Nanette Lewis Head and the members of St. Johns for the use of the premises, Winifred Hewlings, Elly Craig and Maureen Webb for their help with the refreshments, Ron Hurlow for the poster, John Hurlow for all his help with the arrangements, and John Butland who kindly supplied the milk. Thanks were also extended to everyone for attending the concert and for making it such a success. Eva also mentioned that during the last few weeks a very generous donation of £405 had been received from Phil and Christine Lloyd, the conductor and compere respectively, this being donations received in lieu of presents in respect of their ruby wedding, a similar amount also being donated to the Alzheimer's Association. Phil and Christine and their family have always been supporters of guide dogs, something that is much appreciated by the branch. Iris Roblin, Tenby and Pembrokeshire branch president, was present, as was another guide dog owner, John Lloyd from Milford Haven, accompanied by Wilma. Everyone agreed it had been an excellent evening and sincere gratitude goes to all concerned with making the evening such a success.
