Maria Battle, Deputy Children's Commissioner for Wales, gave an extremely informative and motivating talk to BSc Childhood Studies students at Pembrokeshire College recently about the work of the Children's Commissioner's Office.
"Maria Battle explained how the Children's Commissioner's Office deals with a range of sometimes complex issues to safeguard and promote the rights and welfare of the children and young people of Wales," said lecturer Kate Hawkins.
"This will help students to keep a focus on children's rights, not only in their academic studies, but also in their own professional lives.
"Priority is given to listening to the views of children and young people who can contact the Children's Commissioner to talk about any concerns they have. These concerns may relate to poor standards of practice encountered in any of the services provided for children, or to difficult personal experiences connected with disability, abuse, poverty, or discrimination."
