A Pembrokeshire school played host to the Welsh children's champion this week. Keith Towler, the Children's Commissioner for Wales, visited Pennar Community School on Monday. Organised by the school's super ambassadors - pupils Melissa Phillips and Connor Richards - Keith Towler took a tour of the school and its facilities and met pupils and teachers. He was also given a performance by the school choir, who recently sang for the Queen, and met members of the school council, eco committee, Buzz Club and Bike It crew. The visit finished with a question and answer session with pupils of Years 5 and 6. "Meeting children and young people across Wales is not only one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role, it is also one of the most important," said Mr. Towler. "I have enjoyed visiting Pennar Community School. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to hear from children about their daily experiences and the issues that affect them most." Clr. Sue Perkins, cabinet member for education and safeguarding, said she was delighted to see Mr. Towler visiting Pembrokeshire again and listening to the voices of its young people. Melissa and Connor added: "It was fabulous to have Keith Towler at our school today, we have really enjoyed it."
