While adults were out casting their votes last Thursday, the children of Skrinkle estate, Manorbier, were getting involved in local politics themselves. They were collecting signatures and attending the Manorbier Community Council meeting to hand in their own petition to complain about the loss of their amenity and play areas on the estate. Over the years, Pembrokeshire Housing Association has built on their play areas and parks and is now planning to build on three more areas that the children play on. Many residents of the estate are also saying enough development has taken place on this estate, and now the children have taken matters into their own hands by issuing this petition to oppose the developments. Approximately 20 adults, many with young children, attended the meeting last Thursday to complain that residents had not been consulted or informed that the whole of  Skrinkle, including Wheelers Way and Windy Ridge, had been included in the new JUDP (previously it was not in the County Plan intended for development) and that there were plans to develop many areas within the estate. Questions were asked why the community council had not been informed about such a major development. Tony Wales, the council chairman, admitted he had not been aware of the developments and only found out through the local media a couple of weeks ago. Residents of the estate, angry about the size and sites of the development, have handed in two petitions of complaint and are sending copies to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Pembrokeshire County Council. The plea to Manorbier Community Council and the Pembrokeshire Housing Association from the children is 'leave our play areas alone.'
