Sir,
Pembrokeshire County Council intends to dissolve its responsibility for play area provision in this county. This means a substantial downgrading and possible closure of play areas at Knowling Mead, The Glebe, Newell Hill and Heywood Court.
The recent Joint Unitary Development Plan for the county clearly states that it aims to protect existing community facilities and encourage the provision of new ones.
I strongly urge residents of Tenby to contact the JUDP team at PCC (01437 775375) or National Parks (01437 764636) to voice their concerns directly, or their MP Nick Ainger (01646 684404).
This matter is urgent, children have a right to play. In an area of considerable impoverishment with regard to amenities, we should be thinking of expanding and improving, going forwards not backwards.
Carolyn Cox,
23 Harries Street,
Tenby.
