St. Patrick's Church in Pennar opened its doors to a very special act of worship last week when nearly 70 children and adults from across Pembroke Dock took part in the annual parish christingle service.

The event, which was made all the more special due to a performance by TV celebrities, Pennar Community School Choir, involved ministers and all present exploring the life and meaning of Jesus by making christingles together.

The christingle is simply an orange decorated with a red ribbon for the love of God going around the world, four cocktail sticks stuck with lots of sweets representing the four seasons, and finally a candle is added to stand for Jesus, the light of the world. Favourite hymns were sung and a really good time was had by all in a very special setting.

Speaking after the service, worship leader Sheena Fisher, who is in training as a lay minister, said: "We want to thank everyone who came and made the service such a lovely experience, full of light and happiness. On behalf of the parish, we send our special thanks to the school choir who all sang so beautifully. We are delighted to say that the collection for the charity, Plant Dewi, raised £100, too."
