The designtate chief executive of the proposed Hywel Dda Local Health Board has decided not to take up the post, it has been revealed.
In a statement, chairman designate of Hywel Dda Local Health Board, Chris Martin, said: "Regrettably, the proposed chief executive for the new organisation, Howard Waldner, has decided that he is no longer able to take up the post.
"We are obviously disappointed with this decision, but would like to reassure staff and patients that this will not delay the forthcoming appointments of the executive directors for the new organisation and we are working with the Welsh Assembly Government to resolve this matter as quickly as possible."
The new Hywel Dda Local Health Board will be formally established in October of this year.
In the interim period, Martin Turner and Bernardine Rees remain as chief executives for the NHS Trust and the Local Health Boards.
