Regular readers of the Chicken Trotters column may be surprised to learn that golfers the world over are queuing up to play with your correspondent.
Why, you may ask. Well, it seems that when it comes to golfing success, yours truly has become something of a talisman, a lucky charm.
Earlier this year, Stan Hudson was first to feel the full force of these magical effects as in the writer's company he romped to victory in his first outing with the Trotters this season.
Three weeks ago, it was another playing partner, Meurig Jones, who benefited as he too achieved top perch, while two weeks back it was fledgling chick Paul Davies who finished top of the pile after he also featured in a fourball with yours truly.
And lo and behold, guess what. Yes, you're right, last Friday, it was Fred Adlam's turn to fall under this spell, and to such an extent that he stormed home with 31 points - easily enough to earn him pole position and a whopping prize of £2.
Three points adrift in second place, bouncing back from his booby the previous week, was Derek Bath, who pocketed £1.50, while earning himself 80p was Hywel Probert, who came in third with 26 points in his first appearance with the Chickens for many a year.
Doug Havard was the strong one, holding up the rest with 15 points, for which he had his 30p entry fee returned.
"It was a marvellous day," admitted Chief Chicken Morran afterwards. "Seventeen played, the best turnout for sometime, and par for the day was 24."
Finally, the question now being asked is, who will be next to feel the force? Offers please!
