The partnership between Pembrokeshire County Council and Chevron for the Pembrokeshire Football Academy will soon be entering its fifth year. The academy started with just two age groups and now boasts football development from the ages of 11 to 19, as well as a county goalkeeping school. Altogether, over 100 youngsters are registered with the academy and receive structured coaching along with games against other Welsh premier academics. Last season, saw the academy produce its first youth international when Craig George made his debut for the Welsh schools Under 18s side against England at the Bridge Meadow, followed by a second appearance against Ireland a week later. Recently, five players from the academy's Under 12s section travelled to Cardiff for regional Welsh trials. As of September this year, the academy will be taking control of the county's development centre in Tenby, which has been controlled by Sport Pembrokeshire for the past two years as part of the clubs UEFA commitment and Chevron will also play a part in this new venture.
