Local singer songwriter Cherie Morgan (pictured) from Summerhill has been given the big thumbs up by judges at a nationwide music competition.
Along with the other most impressive acts at auditions, 17-year-old Cherie has made it through to perform at the live stages of Live and Unsigned 2009.
Cherie, who attends Pembrokeshire College, where she is doing a national diploma in performing arts, made it through the auditions at Bristol from hundreds who queued patiently for their turn in front of the judges.
And she's now preparing to prove that she is the best in the region when she sings the live stages on Sunday, April 26, at St. Georges, Bristol, for a place in the area final on Sunday, May 3.
Competitors in the show will be asked to perform two songs; one of their best own written songs and a creative cover.
And Cherie's certainly got her sights on the overall winner's prize - a recording and management contract with Future Music, with an investment of up to £20,000 to release a single.
Since competing in the contest last year, when Cherie won the Exposure Award, Matchbox Records have picked-up one of Cherie's songs, 'Mistakes', which has been released on their compilation album 'Tour De Force 1' and she's also in talks with 'Red Skin Records' who have expressed an interest in some of her songs.
Winning the Exposure Award resulted in Cherie spending a day in a recording studio with Craig David's production team.
"I have since written two songs with them, with more in the pipeline," said Cherie.
"It is with them that I have written a unique blend of a cover version with a new song to perform at the finals on April 26."
