An appeal by Thomas Hutton Sinclair (Junior), of Hamilton Terrace, Milford Haven, in relation to an application for a public entertainment licence for the Chequers Nightclub, Penally, has been withdrawn by solicitors acting on his behalf.
The appeal - which was due to have been heard at Carmarthen Crown Court on February 6 before his Honour Judge Durham-Hall QC - was against an earlier decision of Tenby magistrates on May 7 last year not to allow an appeal against a refusal by Pembrokeshire County Council to grant a music and dance licence for the premises.
The magistrates in that hearing cited that the applicant was not fit and proper to hold such a licence, the premises was unsuitable and the location was also unsuitable for the proposed use.
Gareth Watts, principal officer within the council's public protection division, explained: "This matter was first heard in December 2002 when the council's licensing committee resolved to refuse an application by Mr. Sinclair in respect of the former Chequers Country Club, Penally.
"The appeal process has been going on since that time, and this particular matter has now come to a close."
